Who said medicine had to taste bad? This proves that wrong - fermented honey infused with garlic and ginger.
Ingredients
-
1 clean glass jar
-
1 ½ cups raw honey
-
12 cloves garlic, pierced
-
4 inches fresh garlic, sliced
Directions
Clean glass jar well (don’t need to sterilize)
Place garlic + ginger into the bottom of your jar.
- Pour honey in slowly to fully submerge them.
- Stir with a clean spoon or tip the jar to release air bubbles.
- Leave ½–1 inch of headspace at the top of the jar for expansion.
Place in a cool dark place for 1-2 weeks
Open jar each day to allow the gas to release
Once the honey is thin and has a bit of foam it’s fermented
Store in refrigerator
Recipe Note
You can strain the garlic and ginger from the honey, or keep it in (it may continue to steep). This can be eaten with a spoon, placed in a cup with warm water as a drink, or even used as a condiment over cooked vegetables or chicken.
